The tools to build a telehealth experience.

By using our software development kits (SDKs) our customers could build telehealth products of their own while offering video conferencing to connect providers with patients . These kits contain libraries, documentation, and code samples which developers use to create a similar platform that they can tailor according to their needs and workflows.

The Challenge

Customers (health systems, payers, and smaller practices) were seeking for a solution which would allow for them to integrate our telehealth software into their applications. With work already under way for a patient facing SDK on mobile and web, we still needed to complete the loop by offering a kit for the provider experience.

We were tasked with creating a sample app representing the provider experience containing and demonstrating critical workflows, functions, patterns and components allowing for developers to incorporate into their projects thus saving customers time and effort to build.

Critical Workflows

We focused in on the primary workflow for on demand visits, demonstrating how the provider manages patients waiting for care in a queue, reviewing their info and carrying out a visit. This involved 3 key areas which were the Waiting Room, Patient Details and the Visit Console. Visit details and summary could then feed into the provider’s EHR to they could add their notes and wrap up.

We then turn our sights on the UI in order to freshen up the interface and give the sample app it’s own brand and interface elements. For this a friendly and cooler pallet of blues and greens with subtle gradients was chosen. UI elements were softened using softer rounded corners on panels, icons and large radii on buttons.

To demonstrate best practices, we provided examples throughout these flows of key functionality customers would be looking for.

Outcomes

With the Provider SDK, customers had a functioning telehealth solution demonstrating proven best practices which they were able to rapidly stand up, interact with and customize to fit with their workflows and ultimately turn into their own experience. In 2018 into 2019, the SDKs gained traction with customers such as Philips, Canopy Health and 19 labs adopting it to power their own solutions.
